hi evyone,
having been researching vans since late last year, and taking on board advice from the very knowledgeable members of this forum, we took delivery of our 17.55.5sh ob from Canberra jayco ( thx Bushman) on last Tuesday. The handover was very wet and cold, but Terry was very helpful though there is a lot to remember about power, batteries, solar, gas and so on. Terry set up the hitch and was very good in explanations.
We bought from Rose Hill show with usual options and lifestyle pack, solar, battery, upgraded a/c, bike rack, extended draw bar, drifter panel, stereo, tv, large fridge(which quite a few recommended).
As a virgin van owner (never towed a van before- have three billylids though) 3 hour drive home was rather daunting, and it was in torrential rain (and some wind past Lake George), but AWD Terri towed it beautifully and van was steady as.
Cant get it round back to shed as yard is waterlogged, so its on front drive for all neighbourhood to see. Least with all the rain, its a good test for water leaks.
Look forward to ideas on setting it up, hopefully away 2nd week of school hols to Dubbo (zoo)
cheers
Geoff

Very very nice mate. It almost looks like the last few new vans on the forum have been polished prior to delivery it certainly has a shine to it.

Happy travels mate :thumb:

Good point. We have a bike rack plate here in Vic that fixes that problem on the back of the car at least...not sure about vans.

Hi Geoff

Looks great, glad the hand over went well despite the lousy weather, they must have had it stashed away because I didn't noticed there when we drop ours off the other week. Don't surpose you noticed mine down there looking sorry for itself, was (probably in the workshop though)

suggest you get a hitch lock if you need to leave it on the driveway for a while also remove the jockey wheel and sit it on a stand, I have a couple if need to borrow some.
Dont hesitate to get in touch if your unsure of anything, know what we mean about water logged yards, think there's 2 ton of gravel coming my way before our van comes back

I know Moto Moto had issues with the bike rack hiding the number plate, pretty sure they had to re-located the plate and light.
They dont make bike rack number plates for trailers.

Thx for those friendly welcomes,
yes have been aware of the number plate issues with bikes, was thinking they might relocate the plate, but theyre obviously not sensitive to those issues so will need to shift it.
Off to Supercheap for a few accessories like hitch lock and BBQ Galores for a barbie to fit in boot.

Beware of the Bushman character, he often leads people astray................

Jayco Canberra moved my number plate under warranty, i argued the postion that it came in wasn't legal. Jayco HQ agreed. The Canberra guys always went into bat for me with my little warranty issues, they are a great team.

Oh yeah, awesome van! Would love to see the inside layout.
