Hey Guys

Just thought I would share something we did. I purchased a new dual valved compressor - only a cheapie and it goes well so far. See how it goes over time. Pumps a 16" tyre from 15 - 30 in 1 min 10 secs.

Anyway, I was testing it after a got it and had the alligator clips on the battery. Works fine but even with its 8m coiled lead I was thinking this is going to struggle to reach the van tyres.

Was down the back of the car pumping up the rear tyre and saw the Anderson plug on the car. Cut the alligator clips off, replaced with an Anderson plug and viola reaches all tyres and don't have to pop the bonnet. We also put the other side of the Anderson plug on the alligator clips in case we need to use these for some reason. :)

Cheers

Yep put an Anderson on mine some time ago. I also put an Anderson on the cut off alligator clips so it can be reinstated to pump up a car not so equipped ie the wife's sedan.

Saw Jims like that on the weekend and thought it was a nifty idea too.

I had a few issues with my aux battery and the sparky yesterday said to do the same thing with the charger - fit an ando plug rather than stuffing round with the bonnet and battery covers. (Just make sure there is a flag or something obvious on the steering wheel so you don't drive off forgetting it was attached)

Good idea Straydingo. I've got a florescent orange tag that hangs on the visor to remind me TV aerial is up. Also doubles as warning that 240v is connected. Not that anyone would drive off without thinking about those things, but I don't want to be the first on this forum.

Yeah I have put red tape under the roof catches so when they are open it's much more noticeable.

I quite like this idea!

I have a horrible memory and the family often assumes I have done things and I assume the same then just as we take off I get the question -

"Dad did you do this XXXXXX"

And I am often left red faced, I am not going to admit anything just yet but I am going to steal this idea I love it!

Stop picking on me. It's just big enough to block my vision through the windscreen.
Like Leesy, I also have a full time pack up supervisor.

Don't worry im half blind, even if the optometrist says i have 20/20 vision. I still prefer to wear my glasses whilst driving. :)

My wife has inside duties and I have outside duties. Although I do like to walk around inside before closing the door.

DO NOW! Found cutlery drawer well and truly expanded after one trip. Rebuilt drawer and adjusted catch for more positive lock.

Great idea Ants. I'll do same for my ARB pump.

Assuming your cheapie doesn't have a fuse, i recommend you put a 10amp blade fuse in the positive wire. A mate had a cheapie without the fuse and after doing some serious work (pumping up 6 x car and trailer tryres after beach work) it'd cause a fuse on the car to go...then you'd have to find that fuse and replace it to get the car working preoperly. Much easier to ghave a fuse on the pump ...protects it and the car.

Thanks for the tip. It has a fuse in the wire but its 45amps. Do you think that is too much?

Cheers
