Be interesting to have a look once they hit the showroom. The dash looks very off putting, but that may be the photo

The BT50 will be happy.......it's no longer got the ugliest front on a 4WD! Mazda put the Mazda 6 front on their BT50 and Toyota look to have pinched theirs from a Kluger!

2.8 litre 4 cyclinder towing 3500 kg......how well and for how long?

About time they lifted their game in the tow capacity, why the hell haven't they at least go with the 3ltr engine, then again Colorado is only 2.8 but very grunty.

Just been speaking with a guy from Toyota, the leaked photo is of the Spanish version, the dash in the Aussie version is not so obtrusive. The 2.8 has to do with emission standards and the 3.5t tow capacity is with the full payload.

Hope the dash looks better. It will be interesting what they do with the Prado's next as they have the same 3L D4D in them.

This would really be pushing the limits. Very un Toyota like.
Say vehicle tare of 2200. Another 1000 in the tub giving a GVM of 3200, plus 3500 tow making a GCM of 6700+??
A bee's dick less than 200 series.......

Be interesting as the rumour mill is saying a second Diesel engine option coming in the future.
They have already announced the two.
Taken from Toyota.com.au...

"HiLux’s two newly developed GD-series four-cylinder common-rail turbo-diesel engines are notable for their low-end punch and develop substantially more torque than the current model’s 3.0-litre unit.

A 2.8-litre version offers up to 450Nm of torque, a gain of 25 per cent, while its 2.4-litre sibling generates up to 400Nm. In each case, fuel use has been reduced by around 10 per cent#.

Upgrades to HiLux’s 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine have produced greater power, torque and fuel efficiency due to lower weight, enhanced combustion efficiency and reduced friction. The 4.0-litre petrol V6 engine continues."

I was told they de tune the manual something about the 6 speed gearbox not taking the torque
If that's true it's pretty ordinary
