Hi people new to the caravan world looking at movin from a camper trailer to a van, we like Te look of the expanda with the queen at one end and the double at The other, I'm looking at a 30th anniversary outback model at the moment for around the 20k mark? Is that good value has a few extras with it annex, generator, solar panels, what should I be looking out for? Has any one had any issues with them? How do they age as this will be 11 years old? Cheers

@Nardz088 We sold our 2007 16' expanda for $28K just over 18 months ago so guessing $20K would be a deal for a 2005 model.

First thing to look at, after testing all appliances, is for water damage under the mattress on the inside of the bed ends. A lot of the earlier models leaked through the door seals and water damaged the timber and the bottom of the mattress.

If you do buy it I strongly recommend, if not already fitted, to get a set of bagged bed end fly's.
Good luck with it but if this one doesn't work out there will be others!

OH and welcome to the forum...... Plenty of reading on here to keep you busy for a while!

We bought a 30 th anniversary outback for $28k just over 3yrs ago Yes we had a water leak on bed seals ended up cutting out the ply and replacing the delaminated bit then sealing it with fiberglass resin.all good
But the cause was the rubber seal hence we replaced it problem almost solved a plastic bag at the ends now water tight.

we find the van suits our needs have looked at replacing it but when in w.a. we were parked next to Jack Absalom he was happy with his 70s van
we are having trouble finding the interior layout we want, and jayco have dropped the cherry laminate from there range
we have replaced cupboard doors through natural ware and tare for only a few dollars from Laminate Australia

so the 30th anniversary expanda lives on
Hence last year 2 new tyres they were 10ys old tomorrow it gets a new awning .
February it heads off to Albany W.A
we have already put 35,000 on it and it had done a lap before we bought it.
on the down side we should have bought a hard lid model but the roll out flys work well in wet weather.
