200 series front roof rack attachment position

I ended up buying genuine Toyota roof rack bars. This is the front and middle bar. On the instructions it says not to use the front attachment point. Is there a reason for this?

I presume it's because they are concerned with load? Interestingly ARB use it with there big rack bit the mounting is shared over the four points.

Be careful undoing the screws in the rooof , crack (break torque) each one before unscrewing either out. When reinstalling sealant is not a silly idea and again loosely screw each bolt in with NO downward force before tightening up to the specified torque ( don't over do it)

I think it maybe because some of the 200 series have sunroof's - so they just give you a generic instructions
thats the explanation I was given when I asked about the front row on my 100series

Mine has the front mounts and sunroof. I have seen a few Saharas with the full ARB rack. Maybe ring Rhino and ask them why you can't use the front mount.

Has anyone used the front attachment for aero bars with no problems?

I suppose the other reason they are there is for the roof rail that runs from to back.

I saw a 200 yesterday with genuine aeros mounted on the front, it had bike racks up there too

I actually thought of this thread when I looked at it and what @achjimmy said about overtightening
