Hi guys expanda ordered next years model due into Brisbane late February. I know the configuration I have ordered but have not idea what colours or differences there will be to justify the 7% hike in price. Is there a secret squirrel amount you all with any inside info?
Love to know if it is identical to this year or not I've heard they are going back to the flush mounted bed lids??

Anyone know something?

Cheers

Thanks@17triton!!!, i do feel welcome even though i don't yet have an expanda downunder:)

Congrats on the new purchase, we looked at them but with a 10 year plan and3 kids went the expanda, only time will tell if it is a wise decision? just wish i knew what it is and if the colours are changing.i am hopeful there is some inside:behindsofa: info on this site???? it seems like there is a wealth of creditable knowledge from un-opinionated people here. I hope the Triton pulls it around nicely as its going to be much heavier than the old swan its used to towing. I have lifted it a little and hope it will be a smooth ride when fitted.

which one are you getting? did you add the alko electric stability control? i have not towed something this big i dont know if it is worth it or if it is almost a manditory accesory?

sorry if these questions are answered elsewhere i am still learning my way around these parts:argue:

I'm getting a 17-58-3 with esc. It will be the first van I have with this safety feature and as you get older you look at safety more and more . Always hoping it never needs to be used but protecting the precious cargo on the back seat.

I agree i am happy with all the extras but i did not opt for this one and although its an extra grand i have 5 in my family and its all tied up in an expensive item. is the general consensus to just add it on or are there people against them? i have heard some people end up turning them off?

I don't think you would find too many people who wouldn't like esc and yes you do need to turn it off when off road so that it's not activating the brakes all the time or that is my understanding of how it works. I'm in discussions with my dealer to get a Andersen plug put on rather than run it through the 12 pin plug for that reason.

@Sturah we had the alko ESC fitted after picking up the van. Didn't take long to fit as Jayco pre-wire the vans for them now.

It's not mandatory (Yet) to fit ESC but in my opinion it should be and would recommend it to anyone thinking about it. Once fitted I felt just that little bit more at ease when towing and have only felt it kick in slightly once when a double bogie passed us coming the other way!
Didn't even feel the van get pulled sideways when it happened! ESC kicked in before I knew anything about it!

I have an anderson at the rear (used for the charging the battery in the old girl). i was going to get the van changed to std 7pin and use the anderson to run the fridge. Sooooo should just get the car changed to the new plug type so i have availability and extra connections available if i decide to charge the battery also when driving? but then i cant disconnect the ESC if i need to? seems sill to have possibly a 7pin and 3x 50a andersons? does the car need any modifications to run the ESC?

@AzHaych is there something you would have done differently? i'm really interested in the electrical layout 240+12v i am going to add a few more in but don't want to overkill it and make it look stupid, any chance i can see your drawing please?

on another note i spoke to CIL insurance and they asked if it was fitted as they reduce the insurance by 10% if it is fitted.

Not sure on any of the colour changes although I do know our Boston Dark flooring is apparently no longer available. A mate of mine had ordered it for his 17.58.3 Starcraft and have just been told after sign off it was no longer available.

Here is a list of my extras and the floor plan. By the way welcome to the forum and dont forget to get on the bandwagon with reminding @dagree that he drives a Playdoh with REALLY BIG mirrors! :p

-All the standard Outback extras
-Hot water service
-External shower
-Light over the shower
-Extra water tank
-Extra gas bottle
-Drifter control panel
-Picnic table
-Extended draw bar
-Show pack (Fusion sound system, windup aerial, TV)
-Extra double powerpoint to the side of the fridge cabinet near the TV
-Cadel Charcoal Bolster and cushion
-Boston Dark vinyl

@AzHaych Thanks for the layout:) looks like were almost having the same thing i have 2 tables, bed ends, anti flap kit and full annex and bed ends otherwise twinsis8-). how do you go for lighting at the second sitting area? i was thinking of moving the roof light above out a little. jayco wont install anything there for me. i will put in an extra 12v and work it out later. i was thinking of having an additional 12v at the shower? but i have no idea what for? extra light night showering?
cool so the tv point external is standard and the one at the second bed for the second tv.
so other than the shower light and extra gpo at the tv this layout is standard inclusions?
i feel like the cheshire cat at the moment
I am hoping they sweeten the 7% hike with ESC???????????????????????????

@dagree i would not worry about taking them taking the p!$$ i used to play with playdoh till i grew up:clap2:

Welcome Sturah, nice choice of van. We are due to pick up our 18.58-2 in Feb 2016. I had the same question about the colours and the bed ends lids. From all the research I've done including on this site and many phone calls the bed ends on the pop top will not be changed in 2016, also the info I was given by someone at Jayco was that the external colours will remain the same but they could not confirm any internal changes. Not sure about you but as excited as I am about our new purchase I'm just as anxious to see 2016 model in the flesh.
I suppose if any news is gunna break you'll read it here first, good luck I'll keep you posted if any news comes to light.

Cheers

Yes and when we picked it up it had the filtered water tap which seams to be a standard inclusion now. I already had an Aussie Traveller anti-flap and roof rafters from the previous Expanda and we have a Australia Wide Annexe being sewn up for it at the moment.

As an owner of the old bed ends and the new bed ends, I think the new seal off better and I like the push down locks. It also fits the Jayco All Weather bed ends off better too.
