Hello,

We have a Windsor Rapid Poptop caravan.

When we put the roof down today to latch it shut. It is only holding on by about 1cm of the clasp.

It seems as through the whole roof has shifted toward the front of the van.

What can we look at the fix this?

Thank you

Usually its the rams one or 2 starting to fail will cause the roof to go wobbly, give the strut shafts a good wipe down with silicon spray or similar as gunge could be holding one back, give other moving bits a squirt as well, lift it up and down a few times, if it's still wobbly it could be the springs but more often a strut, need to replace them all to keep things even .......... See if you can pull a number off the rams otherwise check out https://www.gasstrutguys.com.au/caravan-camper-trailer/ for struts and for info how to size and fit https://www.caravansplus.com.au/cabin-hardware/fixtures/gas-struts/

I use a tie down strap to compress the strut when replacing ....

I just replaced all the struts in my JJOB pop top van...similar issue, when bringing the roof down it would come down skuwiff and be up to half an inch out to one side, finding at times the clasps wouldn't even contact the claw on the roof it was so far away....meaning lifting it again and trying to bring it down while pushing to one side...total pita. I figured it must have been at least one of the struts weakening allowing the stronger strut to push the roof away to the weaker side...all good now...

Thank you for your replies.

I am now trying to source struts that will arrive by the end of the week

EDIT:
I have ordered 4 new struts from CaravansPlus, hoping they arrive by Friday.

If you haven't done them before I find the easiest way is to lift the lid, put some blocks under to hold it up or make sure it stays up, using a cargo strap, hooks over each end of the strut to hold the tension, just loop the hook over the shaft itself and the tension will hold it in place. pop the locking pins on the knuckles and with strap adjustments remove the strut, reverse to fit the new one on, once all replaced remove the blocks, don't forget to fit the lock pin clips and add a small bit of silicon grease or such to the knuckle before fitting.............

Strut should be mounted with shaft in the down position ............
