Wow, I can see a strut upgrade! Maybe you could plug into your house while at home to offset your power usage :)

Holy crap!! Did you intend to do the hard lid covers also?
Lol..................probably a bit of overkill there!!!

They're actually for my house.
I'm waiting for the guys to come back and finish the install of my 5kw system.

Although I am wondering if one of them "disappeared" and "re-appeared" on the roof of my van, would they notice?

Cool.:cool-19: Looks like you're just going to add extra LED's inside the van and not worry about cutouts for the windows and door? Will also be interested to see how you fix the panels to your awning.

I am still wondering why people don't apply the same methodology of solar panels at home as we do in our vans. That is make more of the house 12 volt where you can and run off a few batteries charged in the first instance by the solar panels on the roof before returning unused power back to the grid.

Makes sense Brad. I also think my kids should have a generator hooked up to a bike that powers their Xbox, then see how much they use it!

Anyone bought any panels from this mob ?

http://www.aussiebatteriessolar.com.au/solar/130w-12v-portable-solar-panel-with-bosch-german-cells/

There prices are up there but they use High Quality A Grade Bosch Monocrystalline Cells supposedly so should get closer to the real output figures.

Interesting site gspy, was checking out their tublar gel batteries and would be interested to hear if anyone knows if they would be safe to use for a caravan power apllication, or if they are for commercial use only. Looks like massive storage capacity, low weight low cost??

They're only 2v and 18kgs each. I think you'd need six of them for 12v.
