Yep. That's where I carry mine, on the front.
I don't have anything mounted on the back bed though.

Just a small pilot hole ,some three quarter six panhead screws and a small amount of white sica flex around the screw hole for extra strength and water proofing,works well

forgot to mention ,be carefull with what width angle you use on the big one at the bottom ,if you use 25 x25 you should be ok , it wont bind on the bottom of the opening when you put the bed down ,hope this helps
