Exterior How to fit pole, fishing rod holder to Aframe advice.

Hi, I am looking fitting a PVC 100mm pole/rod holder to the drawbar. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to secure.

Have been told not to screw / drill through top of draw bar for structural reasons.

We have a stone stomper so rocks / debris should not be an issue.

Just make or buy a couple of U bolts and bolt over the chassis, cut a wooden saddle for the tube to sit on and all is good. A U bolt with a flat surface for over the tube is best for less wear, truck exhaust bracket.

You don't drill through the frame because it will damage the galvanising. A small 3-4mm hole in your frame won't effect it's strength but it will be a spot for corrosion to start.

Less holes or welds on the draw bar the better, frame doesn't matter that much.

Thats a good find @Axl , from my favourite shop too. Price is good as the truck exhaust bracket is a few more dollars, in fact large U bolts can cost that much............................I made my own.

I used the brackets that came with the tube. I had to recess the bolt heads so the tube didn't sit on them, probably would of been ok though.
