Hi all,

It started at Easter,

When we put the Heron Heater on it will run for about a minuite and cut the safety switch.

At Easter is cut the switch on the Parks plug and this weeknd just been it cut the one in the van.

A/C and just fan work ok. Just heater.

Any thoughts and has anyone had this issue

Cheers

For sh!ts and giggles, try a different lead to the van... Gotta rule everything out before attacking the heater element.

That is a good idea, wil try that,

If it is the heater element can it be change easy enough and any idea of costs

I have never done a heron but it will just be an element sitting in front of the condenser held in by a few clips and wires. Take the front cover off and look. With those front covers watch two things. First all the adjustable vents, iirc if they get bumped they come apart? And secondly when putting back on if you tighten the cover too much it cracks the plastic.

Bit unusual for an element to sort of increase its resistance though. They would normally just fail if they do. Fairly reliable.

Update, guy came out to fit the heater element. Turns out it was more then just that. The wiring had burnt out around the fan area due to too much heat.
Heron came to the party and replaced all parts needed for free, only cost $150 in labour...
He suggested when using the heater in the Heron unit turn the fan to the first blue fan setting rather than the heat fan setting. He reckons it is common for them to over heat because of this. The red fan setting is stlighly slower than the blue low setting. This causes not enough airflow around the unit and over heats it.
Might be worth considering when using the heater.
Apart from that he reckons they are a fairly reliable unit and don't give to much hassle although slightly too small for a van with canvas...
