Hi all,

We purchased our very first van about 4 months ago at the Mackay Home Show. For a few years, we have been using our soft floor camper trailer quite comfortably - notable mentions Inskip Point, and we even did a trip down to The Great Ocean Road in it. It was after this trip that we decided it was time to progress to a van. Having not owned one before, this was a slightly daunting task. However, after the home show, we walked away with a brand new 2012 plated 16.49-4 OB Expanda for what we thought was a pretty good buy.

I'm pretty happy to say that it has nearly everything -
Outback model
TV antenna / connections
Bunk beds
150L fridge
Outdoor shower
2 water tanks
100ah battery
100w portable solar power

We've taken it for the first shakedown and have since purchased a few items! We've now got the ultimate annexe from Australia Wide, stoneguard, vinyl bed ends and 12v 21" TV, just to name a few.

I can only say that everyone on this forum is so helpful and ingenious with the mods and ideas that are put on this forum. I've already put a couple into practice, with a couple more on the list to try.

Can't wait to use it for our 4 week trip in only 7 weeks!

Hi @David Dickinson, don't forget to vote for another Queenslander!! After your trip away you will wonder why it took you so long to buy one (speaking from experience) enjoy it as I know you will, where are you planing to take it, you live in a great part of the world up there so you shouldn't have to travel too far. And yes there is so much information here and no peeing contests either.

Welcome aboard and happy birthday too.
As another convert from the soft floor camper, I can assure you, you will never look back. Just about to put my soft floor on eBay and although we had some great holidays with it, I can't wait to see it go!

Welcome to the forum mate. Belated HB too! Plenty of cool stuff on here. As I am in Moranbah, might see you out and about. The weekend of the Home Show in Mackay, there were plenty of Expandas getting about!

After our first trip last weekend in our 16.49.5 I am also pressuring Mr. W to sell the soft floor, don't want him to be tempted by great memories to revisit the camper. I say SELL, SELL, SELL :p

Welcome to the forum David Dickinson, I'm Mackay born and bred and now living in Glenden so as with Hubble80 I might see you around. I also have the same model van as you and absolutely love it. Enjoy your van and the forum.
