Hello all. Just spent a week up in Halls Gap on our first major trip in our 16 49 1 Outback Expanda .Stayed in Lake side Caravan Park which is a beautiful place to stay.I recommend it.We towed the van with our territory. All went well towing but I found the van swaying a little.Which brings me to my Question. What kind of anti sway bar should I be using and where can you buy them and what cost would I be up for.The van is everything we wanted and so far no problems. We want to put a tv in the van at some stage. The place they put the aerial connection is a bit silly as the tv would take Up to much space next to the cook top.Can people tell me were they put their tv or post some pics. Thanks in advance.

I have an ezylift WDH and that works well. The other one I see a lot of members with is a Hayman Reeese WDH. A caravan parts outlet will sell them. I think mine was around the $400 mark but it was ages ago when I purchased mine.

Anti Sway bars and Weight Distribution bars are 2 different things.
If you are already using a WDH and are still suffering swaying you can get one of these devices fitted (see below).
The Anti Sway bar is the one with the logo on it.
But in reality you shouldn't be getting noticable sway if the van is loaded correctly.

We have just completed our first trip in our 2008 16-49 Expanda Outback.(6000+kms) Tow vehicle 2007 3L RODEO Diesel with no WD bars and had no trouble. I contacted our local suspension specialist before we left and were advised to measure the height of front inner guard to ground before the van was hooked on and after hook up. No height change no need for WD bars.
Only trouble we had was dust inside the van. I would appreciate any advise on eliminating this problem.

G'day Big Al, we had a 16-49-1 OB and used a Hayman Reece WDH to improve the ride/sag and it worked well, not sure how much it will stop the sway though. Make sure your not too heavy at the back of van, this can cause sway, maybe try rearranging things. As for the tv, I put a 12v socket and ariel socket in the side of wardrobe and mounted the tv there on a swing out/swivel bracket that I made. This allowed us to watch the tv at any end of the van, if you wanted to use the stove though you would have to swing out of the way or take off.

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies.Just to give you the story. The only problem I had was a slight sway at just over 100km towing with the territory.I put air bags in before the trip so the level is ok.I have towed the same van with my patrol and did not seem to have any sway.I think I put it down to the wait of the territory that's why I was inquiring about anti sway bars. Thanks again for all comments. Its great to see people helping each other
