Plumbing!
It's almost as good as the electrical side of the build,.
What a mess.
We're having troubles with air ingress when drawing from either tank, from about the 75% level and lower. I climbed around underneath to do some vacuum tests on the existing plumbing and .........
Ummm.
I removed the few bits that leaked. :becky:

Now I am out in the shed having fun with my new design.
First, I got it all soldiered up ready to go in., Yep, Sharkbite it is.

Don't worry, it'll make sense when together.

Even though I had to look after 5 x kids, I managed to get a good start on the new plumbing.
Behind the tool box is the new supply manifold, the Solar Panel Anderson plug had to be moved.

The top valve is front tank, center is mains and lower is rear tank.

35321855730_38121483f5_c.jpg

Now for how it ties into the original fixed mains supply, and into the tank.

35540342682_789e1cf52f_c.jpg

Now for the front or rear tank supply to the pumps, each valve is for the tank.

Whilst enjoying a beer, i just filled the 2 x tanks through the BEST filter, it filled with no problems at all.
More tomorrow, hopefully it will all be done so I can take 4 x kids camping this weekend, leaving better half at home with a book and bottle of wine.

Lovingthe plumbing, thats my next major job to free up thd cupboard under the sink.
Are the fittings from the big green shed?
They seemed to be a different size when I looked?

With the parking we had the same at Mandalay in WA at the beginning of the year. Actually worked pretty well.

No, from Tradelink, a plumbing supplier, it is called Sharkbite and is Aussie made. Some plumbers say to not trust it behind the walls of a house, good thing is it is rated for drinking water and robust for under a van.

Got the plumbing all done today, even had a look at the anode. Oh how nice it is to have water running out of the taps and not air surging out in great bursts.
Made a blank cap for the hose connection.

The van came with a small table mounted to the underside of the back bed, table being for the Webber, I started to add to it as well. I've got to make a mount for the Axe, which is child friendly! I wish to move some existing weight up back, to compensate for the bike rack.
I'll go and get some weights one day.

A neat addition the van came with are these short lengths of Velcro which are used for the awning to secure it when traveling, I am trying to find these, has anyone found where to buy these from.

Excuse the poor pic, but sure you get the idea of where they are used to secure the awning closed for travel, I also use them around the roof lift arms to ensure they stay up regardless of what the kids do.... :)

Enough playing for now, I'm heading off for 2 nights away just me and my 8 yr old twins.
Hope there is plenty of room out at Canungra, as that is where I have been INSTRUCTED to go to..... I don't mind, a great spot it is at the show grounds.

I got two of those velcro straps from Jayco Sydney with the van when I bought it.
I'm sure they'd sell them separately though

Darlington Park, such a wonderful place to be, here is our 3 hectare camp site we allocated ourselves.

The weather didn't stay like it for long, near 2" of rain that night....and the following morning, has given me a new list of leaks to sort now.

1 leak is the sail track for the awning, between the track and the roof, so some white sica will sort it out.
2nd leak is the spindal shaft for the TV aerial,
3rd leak.... Ummm, dunno yet.
Then there is the vinyl track for the pop top, where the vinyl is pulling out of it and random places to fix also.

Good news is.
My new plumbing worked a treat.

This is sort of related.
I am converting some 9kg cyl's for camping fires.
The first 1 is what I needed last few nights of the trip away, we were able to borrow 1 thankfully. Better half wants a simple fire basket, I want to carry it with ease so a 9 kg cyl fits my needs well.
I started with a collection of out of date cyl's, 2 for me and 1 for a mate.
On the right is the fire basket which is almost fished.

35587419110_05cd097e68_c.jpg

I started by making a cradle to sit the cyl in, and marked it out for the drillings which are with a normal hole saw but I got a better quality metal cutter 25mm size.

35817896712_5cb0d94cf1_c.jpg

Next shows the 25mm holes and the vertical cuts. The cuts were made by 1st using a jig saw to make a slot long enough to get the grinder in with a narrow cutting disc.

35843859921_e0eef76151_c.jpg

Next I cut the lower stand ring of, and then made the difficult cut around the base. The cut was on the underside of the roll so that I keep some rigidity in the sides of the basket at the top for transport in a 9 kg cyl mount.

35976571305_d124cc4ee0_c.jpg

Now here it is looking inside, the cyl base is cut of and is the opening for the top, the base dome is welded to the carry - valve protection collar.

35976602545_891fb8113f_c.jpg

Now for the tidy up, deburr the sharp edges and a lick of fire proof paint.
Then a trip to go and christen it.
35136702374_f20ce752d7_c.jpg

The other cyl is going to be a copy of an Ozpig, or Oztrail outback oven thingy, not sure yet.
Few jobs to do before hand.
