Thought i would share a few photos of the bed end divider we got Prestige in Geelong to make for us when we ordered our 16.49-3.
The backstory is that we were wanting separate beds for our 8yo son and 11yo daughter (she is getting to the age where she wants some privacy from her little brother), but were not wanting to go up to the size of the 17.56 and be too close to the drawbar limit of the prado.
So when we were negotiating the purchase we told the dealers of our plans and Prestige in Geelong offered to make it for free as a trial so that they could offer it to other people as an extra. At that stage in the negotiations nobody was offering us a better price (sub 46k for the new 16.49-3 OB with extras) so it got them over the line.
Anyway, it worked really well on our shakedown trip, with both kids very happy in their own little "rooms", particularly if they were doing a bit of reading/playing etc when it was wet outside and they wanted their own space.
The divider consists of a curved pole with plastic protectors at each end (modified from an anti flap kit bar). It fits over the centre pole and holds itself in position at roof level. Prestige then cannibalised (?) a bed end cover, and put velcro straps to hold it up and it velcros down to the floor between the two mattresses.
It's 3/4 length, so my son/daughter just crawls around the end, and voila!
5 minute job to put up and everyone happy.
Week long trial next week but it has been terrific so far.
