It certainly looks to be a sturdy unit. I will be taking the old one with us on the first outing just in case all is not well. I don't expect any trouble though.

Well just back from our fist trip with this new coupling and have to say the hitch performed well. Super easy to connect to, went on and off the tow ball without any problems and very easy to line up on. Another benefit for me is it has a lower profile than the original, this will allow me to raise the height of the tow ball. To do so before would have had the tail gate hitting the hitch handle.
No real 4wd use on this trip but some steep uneven dirt tracks were no problems at all. It was nice to see the van able to move where it wanted without the limitations of the original hitch. Must be better for the tug as well i would think, certainly seemed that way.
Early days but i think this one should definitely be on your short list if you are after an off road hitch that still uses a 50mm ball.
