SO in follow up to original posts, I have installed the heater in the Panda, all be it with reduced complexity.

The heater sits behind the draw under the bunk beds. Fits in just nice with the right clearances.

The hole for the heater sits between the two rear structural supports.

The ducts sit up nicely and follow the path of the bed supports. I used 65mm saddles from bunnings to keep all the ducting off the walls and nice and secure, they do get hot but all clear of everything.

The wiring runs to the battery as per usual paths, however the controller runs with the kitchen wiring with the controller in the side of the kitchen cabinet by the front door, that way we can control it form the living room.

Exhaust runs along the rear structural support with the muffler and is supported by clips as required.

Intake runs the other side and clips in to the silencer.

The fuel line and pump wiring runs on the forward support and then follows the chassis clips to the area behind the rear wheel, with a custom make bracket. (no pics)

Tank is form BCF with a suzuki quick connect, i still have the bulb in the for priming but i dont think i will need that.

SO far so happy, runs well, the pump mount is being modified with the all rubber one when it turns up, but to loud when its all quiet.

I have made sure that the ducts have a few bends in them to keep the direct noise out and it has seamed to worked. The intake inside the van also has a big S bend to stop direct noise out of the fan.

It seams to draw air in through all the small nooks and crannies but i will put in a small black grill in the center to math the others to get the air into the back cabinet direct.

Nice work @Maciej Jankowiak.

My pump is up the other end of the van from where we sleep and I can still hear it ticking.

I'm looking at some sort of more sound isolation as the rubber mount that came with it doesn't seem to isolate it sufficiently

the fuel line could be transferring the sound as well if it touches the floor and stuff.

Hopefully not sounding critical but 2 outlets is probably overkill in a 14 ft van. I think you could connect the right hand side duct onto the air supply then you only have one hot pipe to worry about. Just my thoughts. Enjoy that awesome heat now. Love our diesel heater.

Just come back from maiden trip to the centre in our 14.44.5 outback with below freezing temperatures - a little portable gas heater was a great help but are looking at installing a diesel heater for next trip -- what are the brands that have been found to be reliable and quiet(er) ? Where have people installed them in the rear bathroom configuration?

I have a Planar type one from Pinnacle Wholesalers find them on Ebay. I hope you didn't run the portable gas heater in the van whilst you were sleeping? There have been a few fatalities from running them in vans and tents.

Thanks -- not used while sleeping and careful to have some ventilation - am aware that it is not the healthiest option to use unflued gas heater thats why I'm doing a bit of research on diesel -- any issues with the unit you are using?

Only issue I have had was due to my own fault. I thought I could quieten the air intake as it does make a it of noise starting up by putting an air cleaner on it to muffle the noise a bit but ended up choking it up. No huge issue just dismantled cleaned up and all good again just no air cleaner now lol. A great unit and won't have another van without one now.

Nice job. As I have the same van a couple of questions.
Is there a risk of the bedding falling over and covering the vents.
Any idea of the noise for the person sleeping in that bottom bunk.

We put a Tuit diesel heater in ours, also from Pinnicle in Vic.
Only used it over one weekend but with outside temps near zero, inside was toasty warm.
Easy to fit, simple to operate, very happy.

I slept in the bed last night as kids were playing my musical beds. it is no more noisier then a normal fanheater. it does keep the bed warm lol. the heater has a safety feature inbuilt so if it does get blocked off it turns off on high temp. so far no issues.
