Anybody installed a power mover to an outback Expanda?

I'm looking at either a 16.49-4 or 17.56-2 Outback but need a power mover to manoeuvre the van at 90 degrees as it passes the fence.

Doesn't look to be too much grass in that photo?

@Gavin and Brooke I'll let you into a secret. Secret men's business if you like.
You start off with a lot of grass. You constantly bitch and moan about how hard it is to mow with you 15 year old victa 4 stroke. You know the drill, come in red faced and sweating after each time you now.
You keep dropping hints on how having a ride on would speed up the mowing, and how it would get done so much more often etc etc.
You put ride on mowers in your watch list on eBay, and drool over them in bunnings.
Eventually the minister for finance relents, and you buy a ride on. Happy days!.........But it doesn't stop there.
Because mowing the grass is so quick now, you find you have more time for the garden. Larger garden beds would look nice ( of coarse with the added benefit if reducing the amount of grass you have).
Now mowing is even quicker right?
So you have even more time.
Why not buy a caravan, so you can take the family away on weekends that used to be filled with mowing the damn grass.
Now you need somewhere to store the caravan.
That crappy bit of weedy grass beside the shed looks like a good spot, but you can't park the shiny new van on grass, it gets too wet there. So you make a nice new driveway and parking place for your van.

Even less grass!
Unfortunately you were a bit too smart.
The minister for finance isn't stupid. She can see how much grass is left, and she smells a rat.
Quick. Make up some excuse that the van parking area is a little too tight to man manoeuvre the van into. Stick a tow ball on the ride on, and all is well in the world again.;)

Good planning for planting the seed into the Minister of Warfare and Finances head, just remember to get a good poison to hit the weeds when they pop up in the garden bed ie no need to weed then and just more time for football or to get out in the van.

Not sure if mine would move the disco but have you got a tow ball on that thing?

Yep I welded up an angle iron frame that bolts to the existing ride on tow point. mounted a tow ball to that. to be honest, it moves the van ok, but steering is a PITA. My ride on has a solid axle, so doest do corners too well, but I've found if you line up the ride on in the direction you want to go before hitching, it works prestty well.

Hi Darrin....We recently ordered a 16.49-4 also (delivery 19 Dec) ... I am curious- what "remote camper trolley mover" did you buy? We need to get ours in a tight spot too- southern Sydney doesn't have too many big blocks. I have looked at many and the ball weight might affect it's effectiveness where I want to put it- ie, need to move it on grass.

I think I might need a power mover... new place only gives me 100mm either side of the Basestation and it has to go in on an angle. I would make a video but I would have to time lapse it as every time I block the road to get it in, somebody opens the gates and lets all the cars down my street!!! And I swear I saw the same lady in a white Prado go past 4 times!!!!

By memory (built it 3 years ago or more) it cost about $600 - $800.

I imported a lot of the components from the suggested suppliers in America. At the time, there was not much on the market that had the capacity that I needed and if there was, it was way out of my price range.

I actually use mine to move a 3.0 tonne ski boat into a third garage. I have to utilize go jacks for this and that adds a lot to the rolling resistance. My wife and I cannot move the boat with out the assistance of the mover.

Here's a video of what I am talking about. Sorry about the music, it was a personal joke with a mate!

Hi, I have the 16.49.4 Expanda single axle.I have a purpleline mover on my van.I had it on my previous van but when I bought the Expanda I had it re fitted to it on purchase.I have a very narrow driveway thats enclosed with fences on both sides, and a slight incline on the drive as well. The mover manages the van ok. A double axle requires 2 movers due to having 4 wheels.
