Yes, @Bellbirdweb, A 90deg rear view camera it was on the spare tyre mounted on the rear bar but needed to find it a new home since repositioning the spare. Cable runs down to chassis and I have used a couple of spare pins on the trailer socket 12 pin job and all works well. I found a reversing camera, 120 deg, was useless as a rear view cam just couldn't see anything until it was 10 ft away.

The rig is sitting up on jack stands, ( 6 of them) rear water tank removed, wheels and hubs off, plumbing /cables out of the way all ready to replace springs with nice new ALKO outback jobs........of course I now find my tyres 8000k's are scrubbing right on the inside edge :crushed: , so somebody has hit something in the last 1000kms on the way home :( damn dirt road and has possibly bent his axle OR it might be the (hope, hope ) the flogged out spring bush that caused it, we also discovered the inner bearing seals are leaking crap into the drum so new seals added to the list, might just get whole new bearing sets and be done with it, at least we still have meat on the brake shoes. :clap2:
Fit new springs and hangers, do the bearings, put the new steel rims on, then will get the measure stick out and see what the alignment looks like if I can, I may be lucky......:chuncky:

Diesel is $1.23/lt at Withcott, QLD.

PS: Note to self add big bottle of metho to wash brakes down with........:doh::doh:

One spring fitted and hung. 8-)..............next time I get bright ideas :dread: like this I'll get someone to do it unless I can find a Caravan sized hoist, this squeezing under the van, just not high enough to sit up and with a welding helmet on, aarrgghhh, bent over and hot bits were cooking me.
Tomorrow get other side done, fit axle back on, hubs on, wheels on, so Monday should see it back on the ground....:clap2:.....................God I hope it's not a pain to align the damn thing, otherwise it's check the nuts and up to the truck align joint :help: in Toowoomba, I've had rolling around under the bloody thing..........................Teewah Beach after the long weekend should be just nice :fish2: and looking good.
At least no frayed clobber this time so I haven't set fire :flame:to myself........yay.........yet!!!!

Well the round things are back on and it's sitting on the ground, the steel rims and bigger tyres look good, brakes hooked up just have to put the water tank back on and connect up all the hoses and crap that I pulled out of the way then go for a test drive to see if they fall off.
I think I have my axle lined up okay, I might drag it to a mates who has a nice pad of concrete which I can draw on and measure things out, I may also ring Trans Alighn and see what they charge.
I'm so over this sort of stuff, just too bloody old for it now, no major mods anymore just piddly little stuff in fact if the Jeep or van need anything more than a normal service then it's a match, in fact the lawn mower has been warned not to play up tomorrow when I use it or it's in the dam.
Beer O'clock....................................I took some pics but the brownie is in the shed and I'm in the Aircon with a beer.

All good, so far, went for a test run 15km and all went well, gave it a wiggle at 100k and it came back in line very quickly no hitting van brakes to drag it out, so very happy now............rechecked my align and was only about 1 or 2mm out so just a little hit with the hammer needed, tyre wear next run will see how good it is.
Just have to get it all level as I have to juggle the hitch but then it wasn't loaded just one tank full, Jeep was empty so maybe just wait.
Camera still in shed but not much to show really, small slipper springs swapped for eye to eye outback springs which are larger but still only have 9 leaves and have the same load rating.
Must point out if you haven't done this sort of thing before and are not a competent welder then don't try it, am I a competent welder ??? well, the trailer I built years ago and other stuff is still going strong but then again time will tell.........I am always reassured when I look at welding on cars and other trailers, sometimes mine looks good.

Adjust the brakes and bearings and thats it, I'm over it, mowing the lawns looks so good now............

It's wet so dug out some old photo's to post on some other sites and found this one, Coloured Sands Rainbow Beach 1991 nothing to do with my van but it's such a great place. This old truck carted our family all over the place for many, many years just tenting it with a trailer to cart the gear as the truck was full of kids and the odd dog. Great memories.

Yep, mine was 27 yrs young when she laid over on a dirt track, hardly any damage as it was very slow but the roof was stuffed and wasn't worth trying to fix it. Dual fuel and was still running like a dream, I tend to keep my vehicles till stumps.

I've actually been looking at some old Cruisers from the turn of the century 00-01, tempting.

The only ones I've seen to date have knackered bodies but after years of Jeeping I'm now spoilt for the comfort side of things even though I would like a 1985 Landy with the big Isuzu engine, noice truck if looked after right.

I know I'm a bit slow sometimes but I've just worked out how to leave the Privacy screen in place when I fold up, have been wondering about the press stud on the tag with the loop for the corner tie down and today while I was replacing said loop with a bit of parachute cord and heat shrink it dawned on me..........WooHoo it clips on to a top corner stud, be buggered .............now I wonder if I can fit my boogy board next to my table..????

Hey @bigcol I have always wanted to slip a HiLux running gear under a Dyna Dual Cab.........great tow rig

one of my Bro-in-laws had a Dyna Duelcab as his work ute
he chopped the roof off and played with fitting 4x4 under it
in the end (from memory) I think he fitted real wide tyres on the back (supposed to be duelies I think) and it used to go along the beach ok
so he never bothered any further with it
got to the beach
drove along the beach for fishing
he was happy

In the old days the 3 lt diesel would take the FWD box and transfer easy as just adjust drive shafts to suit with ,pretty sure HiLux running gear, awesome beast, cut and shut the floor for the extra lever and you had a fantastic FWD, of course Recaro seats, canopy on back and a big cassette rack for the stereo.

Getting toey looking at the pics on this site, Energex came and fitted the new meters for my solar and a party to go to this Sat then it's a clear calender so free to roll out.
Don't know where to go but might go for a quick run to Evans Head but then Tin Can Bay would be nice thought about the Artesian pool at Pilliga but its still around the 37 deg out there, could do a round trip and spend a few days at each so then the quick trip ends up being 3 weeks oh well, decisions, decisions I think the beach will win.
There all about 5 hr drive so toss the coin or just do what I'm told, latter will win I think.
Still waiting on Tax man might just book Airlie Beach for May anyway, it's only money, the old blood out of stone caper at this place.
