The 240v lamp does not work. Like to replace it before the next trip down south. Without pulling the fridge out, how do you take the front panel off to get at the lamp. Thanks in advance

Hi @Middo , I have a Thetford 93 litre fridge too, Model N304N. that is a few models older than yours approx 2014. As for replacing the 240 volt lamp indicator lamp, probably a LED?? My fridge does not have such a light, but when I was upgrading my fridge to get at controls, it was necessary to move fridge forward to get to any of the different controls behind the front panel. I had to remove the fixing screws at front of unit after removing door to gain access firstly, then unscrew the fixings at rear of fridge through access panel. The fridge then has to be moved forward to get clearance from under bench to be able to get to electrical parts including the 240 volt wiring. Depending on movement available, you will probably also have to disconnect the gas line and 12 volt input lines too. An easy enough task, but it will take time and a lot of care. Perhaps someone else on this forum can come up with a better way. I wasn't. So IMO, you must move fridge forward to get to the part you wish to replace. Good luck.

Oh yes the fridge works ok on gas, 12v and 240v. Just no light on 240. Light on 12v works ok. Just looking at whether it is worth while replacing or not without having to pull the fridge out.

Tough call there @Middo ! As others have said, eliminate ALL other possibilities first, however unlikely. Then it will be time to "bite the bullet" if you really want to investigate why that light is not illuminating!

You can download a copy of the comprehensive manual for this fridge at:

https://www.caravansplus.com.au/pdf/ThetfordFridgeManual.pdf

This is for an N304M.3. You don't specify exactly what version N304 you have.

If you look at the schematics, you will see that the 240V light is most probably not an LED and more likely to be a neon tube with a resistor incorporated in the assembly.

You can get a replacement from:
https://www.everythingcaravans.com....MIy9Kjls7m8QIVwTUrCh3W-AQLEAYYASABEgIE0_D_BwE

But at $49.50 I would be heading off to Altronics where the neon pigtail is available for $1.45. Or ratting an old appliance for one.

Good advice @mikerezny . For @Middo , the easy way (if you want to splash your cash) is to buy the actual replacement which has the terminations already connected. A simple remove existing lines and lamp/cover as one and replace entire unit . Very straight forward. If cheaper option is your thing as @mikerezny suggested to replace pig tail neon, you will have to remove plastic light cover (green) carefully to reveal neon, then cut wires between pig tail wires and resistor and splice in new pig tail neon bulb, and replace cover. A bit fiddly with soldering iron, but far, far cheaper. How are you on that?? And remember, all this AFTER you gain access!!!

Hi,

The page from Altronics I posted did also have the far more expensive option of purchasing the complete neon assembly which pushes the price up from $1.45 to $2.00! Which would be well out of my price range.

Definitively the way to go @mikerezny as much easier connections/soldering. Providing you can get one (right colour?) and that the replacement fits the opening. Are they all standard or does Jayco use different sizes?
