Just had my Pathy fitted with Pedders Airbags and about to tow out 14.44.5 for the first time with them. Any thoughts on an appropriate pressure to run them at?

Hello Griffo, we have a polyair bags fitted to our Sorrento, we put 20psi in ours. We tow the same van as you.
Thanks Jeff,
Run with 15 unloaded as it gets rid of some body roll. Loaded the back up with probably 150Kg of gear and have a 25mm drop before the van goes on. The Ti Pathy has fairly soft springs in the back.

With our set up, loaded with fuel,4 bikes on roof and 2 on bike rack on the bar family of 6, l run 30 psi and no WDH. Van is 170 kgs on the ball.
10 psi every other time not towing.
Pace.

Isn't 25psi the max pressure,, pretty sure mine are, Coilrite by Airbag Man run abaout 20 in mine with WDH, drop back to 10 without, helps with draw/fridge in rear.

G day Griffo, i used to run mine at 27 psi. Ran beautifully. FYI, i just ordered a new set of Firestone bags from Trucksprings.com (no affiliation...just impressed with price and service) in the USA.
Took only 7 days to get here with standard postage and half the price. A pretty easy fit on the Patrol too.

Thanks Bushman and b1900c. The Pedders ones according to the specs can inflate to 60 but it would feel like you had no suspension.

You can get woven bags for them now that protects the rubber and allows the pressure up to 60psi

Yep Polyairs 30 max.
To work out what setting:
  • Pump both airbags up to maximum pressure.
  • Hook van to car.
  • Reduce pressure until car/van sit how you want them.
  • Take note of pressure.
DO NOT hook the van up and then pump the airbags up as this could blow airlines or connections.

Run mine at 26 psi towing and 6 psi whne not.

I run 30psi in mine with the van & 5psi without.
The springs in the 550 are much softer & the bags don't make as much difference as it did in the my07 Ti, good excuse for new lifted springs & shocks

Thanks CJ1177. Did a trip today down the coast abd ran them at 25. Worked a treat. Agree the 550 have quite a soft rear end
