finally able to sneak away, what was supposed to be a three month trip is now three weeks, aged relations, doctors appointments and second covid shots have caused a few issues to our plans, heading off wednesday to gympie to do the Mary Valley rattler steam train and rail motor trips staying at the Chevallan archery park, then moving on to Childers to stay with friends for a few days, then on to Rocky Point Retreat for two weeks fishing on Baffle Creek ,11th june to 24th June ( we will go via the rum distillery to get a bottle of their special rum liquer ) then back home for the school holidays, and get our second jabs so much for all my fantastic planning, but i hear the fish in Baffle Creek are just waiting to be caught ha ha , see you on the road, look for the big green canoe on top of the tug

Do you need to return home for the jab?
I understand that you can get it elsewhere just need to ensure the first jab is registered which is what the health practitioners must do when you receive the 1st jab.
probably dont have to , but has been booked around other things we have to attend to so are keeping all in a little block , also allows me to winge about covid shots and not have elderley relations think we are coming back to attend to their needs and worries

could not fault chevallan archery park , we were moving on to Maryborough Showgrounds but this week end is the pickle festival, very busy all around town! So we have come to boonooroo-Tuan caravan park instead ,about 20 km out of Maryborough ( one of the villages on the mainland across from Fraser Island ) older park lot of permanents , crusty no nonsense owner, waterfront site, unpacked the alvey , bream and flathead for dinner ,from the back of the van ,maybe catch a couple more for breakfast, should unpack the camera tomorrow just in case I have to prove my claims

Set up at rocky point retreat ,let the locals have the river over the weekend, this morning it’s monday and pouring rain, never let that get in the way of a silly old fool (wifeys opinion) put the canoe in just behind the van , 30 min later dinner for a few nights

Leave some fish for me please this is our regular spot spending Christmas New Years there again already booked
Agree it a prime spot, when we tent camped we stayed at baffle bobs just across the creek,do you have a secret sandfly brew or do you just drink enough to lose your feeling but I suppose spending time around Burrum you may become immune

that sandfly recipe goes back to when i worked the whitsunday resorts back in the 70s (1970s that is ) so the same brew is still getting around tried and true

west of cairns has some amazing places, Atherton starts the adventure ,one of the things that stuck in our memories is the "avanue of Honour " at Yungaburra ,had a tear in our eyes there, then the Savannah Way has some world class attractions, Undarra Lava tubes, cobolt gorge ,einslie gorge then all the way through to lawn hill natonal park, if you are doing the savannah way into NT lawn hill is definatly worth the diversion if you do go make sure you book through national parks dont just turn up

you may not have to worry about me catching a few fish ,as it is in front of parliment to turn the whole of baffle creek into a red zone ,no fishing, commercial or recreaation, the greenies want to close the baffle off totally, the managers of the retreat say it will ruin them as most people come here to relax and fish,a lot of people have never even heard of baffle creek, its a way the powers to be try and control our lives

Saw that on Seven Local news last night (we get the Bundy version) lots of folk will certainly hope this drop kick government cans the idea but then they are trying to ruin all the fishing in Wide Bay............ Greenies are pushing for more regs for recreational fishing around here and Fraser.....
