When your van/camp gear comes in handy at home

For us this time it was last night when we had 2.5 hr blackout and everything in the house is electric. luckily we had finished dinner other than wiping the dishes which the daughter did by torch light, amazing how much light a dolphin torch gives off pointed at a white ceiling :biggrin-26:, note to self about time to by that decent LED camp light. Back to PJ up to front door a ran the 12v lead light off the second battery and under the front door,
Van cover was off so went out flick the battery switch on and watch TV in the van

Now that we have the van at the front door, if we were to get a blackout we'd just bail out to the van, gas for cooking, got the telly, two 105Ah batteries should keep us going for a while, too easy.

I often use the fridge from the van and we have also used the oven when needed. My daughter even used it as her quiet study room when she did her VCE!

We use the van and equipment as a guests room when the relos arrive.

Certainly handy having a generator and independent refrigeration/cooking/showering if we need it

Yep, ours doubles as a guest room as well.

Also great when we run out of coffee, sugar or sauce. Just run out to the van to grab more from its pantry!

That's tripped us up in the past. Thankfully we weren't camping in remote places and could duck up to a local shop

We are going to use the van shower when we get both of the bathrooms done in the house
It will save us $5000 to get them both done at the same time and not having to hire a Portable bathroom.
