Hey all,

Pop'd the roof of JX1109 today found the ceiling has been hit by some water damage.

Quick check of the roof and although the rubbers around the edge are a little worn from age (2012 model), im not sure if thats the exact point of entry.

Anyway, I'll reseal around the roof exterior soon (temp lining of silicon added on the side closest to water damage to buy some time), but its the interior which I need some suggestions on..

Check out the pics below.

Any help appricated.

Bummer, TV aerial possibly the cause but I would reseal the whole roof, internal repair I haven't had the pleasure but I'm sure someone here has been there, if it's a sandwich board it will cause a few headaches......................I have resealed the outside though and getting it all clean is the hard part.

Our internal ceiling has developed cracks around the roof vent. Some photos were sent to Jayco and our local service repair people and after some discussion Jayco have agreed to pay 50% of the repair which will require replacement of the ceiling from the front of the van back to the first join in the ceiling. This is still going to cost me over $900 but, never the less, I am grateful to Jayco as the Journey is now three years old this month

If possible you need to open up the ceiling so it can dry out completely otherwise you risk mould and mildew growing in the roof space. If you aren't fussy about the look you can leave it at that otherwise you will need to pull the panelling out to replace it. It would be best to talk to a specialist repairer on how to do that.

Nah, mate, there is water in it. the timber under it feels squishy and there is damp around the vent. I have been up and looked at the outside and the silastic is opening up so I have scraped away what i can reach and put fresh goo around and I hope when the ceiling is replaced the vent will be removed and refitted properly.

I had a light leak in my roof due to either the ariel or fault in the seal.. I sprayed around the whole edges and ariel with a whole can of clear rustoleum leakseal and have had no issues since, it dries hard and holds up quite well.. will probably spray it every couple of years to reduce risk of any issues. Might be helpful for anyone who wants to prevent leaks or has a light leak such as mine.
