So we would love to buy an Expanda 17.56-2 outback...but are a little concerned about whether we are cutting it too fine...our vehicle says we can tow 2000kg. Is anyone already towing with a Sorento? How does it go?

Brilliant! Thanks for the info...now to decide whether we go the 16.49-4 or wait two years until we replace our current car....

Hi Bekb82,
You could always upgrade the 16 later after you replace the car, that way you don't have to wait! 2 years sounds like a long time to me, i'm not very patient.....life's too short i say :)

This is what we are doing, we have ordered the 16.49-4 and plan to upgrade the car when the current lease is up and then upgrade the van :D

You can get a factory towball upgrade to 150 kgs on the kia sorrento same deal as the santa fe we have just purchased a 2013 santa fe with the hd tow package we will tow our boat with it and maybe the van will have to see about that one

I have a sorento with the 150kg tow bar. Currently towing a Jayco Swan 129kg ball weight.
I had previously towed this van with my recently traded Discovery 4 2.7 litre diesel.
The Sorento has the same torque and slightly more power and is some 500 - 700kg lighter.
The Sorento tows very well. The swan drops the rear of the car about 2cm. Not aware of the van behind. I have ordered a new 2014 Expanda 14.44.4. Have it configured to keep the draw bar weight at or below the usual 130kg and I think I will have no issues towing. Have included ESC to make it even safer.

We looked at the Kia Sorrento and Hyundai Santa Fe, but the tow ball weight rating was too low for the 16.49.3 so we ended up with the JGC
