I've have my portable panels setup the exactly same as yours Turtle. The Anderson plug on the van also connects to my Cruiser, and is connected via the second battery of the battery management system with a 30amp autoreset fuse in the positive cable. I usually go up a couple of sizes from the recommended sizes to avoid voltage drop. In this case, because I may have to hook up to my son's boat winch I've used 10mm2 cables. Melting cablesare inconvenient and not a pretty sight.
