Have only towed our van 100kms so far so have no idea on fuel consumption yet.
Abit about our FZJ105- Purchased it from NSW, flew up to Sydney, trained down to pick it up, drove it back to Melb. then boated it home.Previous to this I owned a HZJ105 turbo'd, intercooled with every/anything on it. Towed our camper everywhere with ease but repairing a diesel has its disadvantages plus a few others that I never liked. So the diesel was sold and replaced with a petrol, also with a list of mods a mile long and in everyday running around it was better on fuel than the diesel.
The list so far-

Fuel economy will never be as good as a more modern engine but Ill bet my bottom dollar that my engine will still be going strong when these new "modern" engines are long retired. Plus there is a good chance of a "bush" fix to repair it.
And I have a Long Ranger Aux tank sitting in the shed ready to bolt in, along with some OME868 rear springs.

I,m jealous, I love my 105 series.
Fuel consumption is a little high but it never stops me going where I want.
Easy to fix too.

Fitted up my Long Ranger LRT tank yesterday and installed OME868 rear springs.Rear sits nice and should sit level with LRT full. Gunna hurt the hip pocket filling the sucker up now, all 270lts of fuel.

I love a good poser shot MM:photo:

Where are your favorite tracks? Have you had much of a chance to get it offroad?

With our van getting all the attention lately, I decided that the Cruiser needed a little rear end protection to protect our van. I had a customer in the other day with a set of rock stompers? so took a few pictures to build a set.
So far I have got this(yet to be completed)

I am now wondering if I have the rubber wide enough, thoughts on this? And length is yet to be trimmed.

I guess they could be a little bit wider as you can't have enough protection :behindsofa:

Although it does allow for plenty of airflow under the Cruiser and allow hot air to escape from driveline temperatures

Nice cruiser mate, and a pretty impressive list of mods. Looks like you're pretty handy with the welder too!

Cheers

Replaced my 1/4 worn Wrangler MTR's with a new set of Wrangler Duratrac's seeing as we will be towing van everywhere now, dont really need the more agressive tyres.
Brake controller has been replaced with a Redarc Towpro
Recently replaced the injectors too, believe one or two to be leaking slightly.
And now use a Rhino roof bag instead of the southern cross bag(damaged due to flying off). The Rhino bag is great, better than the southern cross bag IMHO.
Will soon replace the clutch too, not because its slipping but its easier to replace in my workshop than on side of road next year(and rear seal is leaking very slightly)
Getting it ready for our year on the road in 2016.

Vehicles ready for 12mths towing our Discovery round Aust, got my mod plate back last week for GVM upgrade, seating capacity change and Long Range Tank. Fully loaded now we are right on upper limit but once fuel load goes down(290lts all up) we'll lighten up substantially.
