Our journey that lead us to the Expanda began in January when my husband suggested we get a cheap, second hand campervan. We decided very quickly on the Jayco Swan because we needed the room to sleep 5. After seeing a few and having to rethink our budget we noted that everyone we looked at was being sold so that the owners could upgrade to an Expanda. Our research then took a turn to the Expandas and the benefits over a campervan became quickly evident. So we started looking at second hand ones for sale (upgrading the budget yet again) but noted that we could never find one with most of what we wanted in it or if it did come close it was in another part of the country. We were limited to a max of 16ft due to our tow vehicle. Unfortunately we do not have the great 4wds that most of you have but will be towing with a 3.8L V6 Kia Grand Carnival. Then we deided we had to have one with the hard lids which pushed the price up again as we were looking at newer vans. Then after reading just about every post on this site (thank you to everyone's suggestions, opinions and stories) we figured out exactly what we wanted and ordered our brand new van at the Sydney Caravan and Camping Supershow last Saturday. Could've had delivery in June but can't get away until the end of the year so didn't want to waste the warranty with it sitting in our shed. The kids are so excited and now we are looking at all the places we can go to.

Hey guys, welcome! :welcome:

Great to see another 16'er on the forum. Go the 16's!!!

Get out and about, only way to get the full use. Amazing what info you can find here and with people out in the caravanning world that can help you along the way.

Cheers!

Good to hear people love their Expanda's. We got the touring version only because we can only tow 2 tonne and we have to be mindful of the weight. In saying that we just got a copy of the order sent to the factory and they ordered us an OB. Have now corrected that. Options that we included are: privacy screens, rooftop air, shelves to robe, outdoor shower, 150L fridge, full Kakadu annexe, solar pre wiring, battery provision, antenna, control panel, alko drop jacks, TV bracket, additional powerpoint and the underslung option (which we found out is not actually underslung they just lift it). Roof air was to be Dometic but they have changed suppliers so we are now getting a Aircommand Sparrow. Hubby is now checking out the solar panel options.
