Hi all. just spent the last two weekends away with my 16.49.3 on the NSW/QLD border. One thing that I noticed was the bugs that came through the mesh at night. We do not have midge mesh on any of our windows and we do camp at spots they are really bad. If the bugs were able to get through these last two weekends, mind as well leave the door open because midges will have no problem.

I have seen somewhere on here that someone has replaced their windowed on the pop top with clear vinyl. If some one can direct me to these I would like that as well, but has anyone or does anyone sell midge mesh inserts as the clear ones? I would like both as we camp year round. Cheers! Bobby

Don't forget they will come through the mesh on your door as well.

I too am interested in replacing the ones in the pop top skirt with midge proof mesh.

I also have a 16.49.3 and I replaced my screens in the pop top skirt with finer mesh and also added clear windows as well. I purchased both from a member here @crustt
Works very well. Very nice to open solid windows and leave clear closed overnight. Lets morning sunshine in and helps to warm a cold van.

Thanks guys. That name looks familiar. I knows I have seen them around. I figure I would buy the replacements for the top and I will do the windows and doors my self. The wife and I were talking about how to do the privacy screen, but I might just have her sow the midge mesh to the existing screen and the secure it better with some Velcro. Will have a look later. Cheers!

The midgies comes through the bed end mesh, and through the van door mesh.

I fitted midgie mesh in the open channel on the inside of the screen door; I left the original mesh in place. That channel is for your run of the mill Cyclone brand midgie mesh and spline from Bunnings for $30, much the same as your house fly screens. I also had the 3 x bed end screens replaced with midgie mesh.
