I have been think about fitting a Grey water tank to the basestation for a while now and have been searching this forum and other internet sites but is very hard to work out the correct way to do it.
So I have been collecting the parts that I feel I need and have starting to install a grey water tank.

This is just some of it
20160119_201933-resized-2048.jpg

The basestation has 2 water waste drain pipes fitted as standard (one from the shower and the other from both the kitchen sink and hand basin)

Looks like this
20160119_204706-resized-2048.jpg

One of the first things I have read about is stopping smells and grey water coming out from the shower drain and I think the best way to stop that is to fit a Hepvo Waterless valve 40mm

Looks like this
20160120_172552-resized-2048.jpg

So I started to cut the factory pipes to install the waterless valve into the shower drain and then join the sink/basin pipe and shower pipe to a T piece to connect to the grey water tank.

Now my plumbing looks like this
20160119_210839-resized-2048.jpg 20160119_215555-resized-2048.jpg 20160120_172529-resized-2048.jpg

The tank that I am using is black poly tank brought from a RV store, The Tank dimensions are - 1170L x 640W x 170H and comes with 2 x 1 1/2 inch BSP threads to suit 40mm inlet and outlet fittings and 2 x 1/2 inch BSp threads for flush and vent of tank. The tank also came with mounting bars

20160120_173101-resized-2048.jpg 20160120_173109-resized-2048.jpg

I attached the mounting bars to the rear of the basestation just behind the 3rd water tank.
I drilled the mounting bars to suit the factory holes in the Jayco under floor cross members

20160120_173747-resized-2048.jpg 20160120_173322-resized-2048.jpg

I also wanted the grey water tank to be monitored by the Drifter control panel so I went about wiring up to the spare 4th tank terminal on the Drifter. Now I was lucky in the fact that I all ready had 3 tanks fitted by the factory so I had enough wires going to the drifter and to the under side of the van so I just had to sort them out and run 2 wires from under the van to the grey tank.
The factory wiring at the drifter was a mess so I sorted that out and connected tank 4

wiring to grey tank
20160120_173307-resized-2048.jpg

I also need to drill 4 holes in the grey water tank to mount the water height sensors.
I used a 9.5mm drill bit and sealed the bungs with sealant

20160120_173230-resized-2048.jpg

I still have to get a stone shield folded up, mount the tank and fit drain pipe and tap.
All that should happen in the next few days so will post picks when I do it.

Cheers

Your getting me motivated to start working on my van again.
I had jayco run the wiring for the drifter waste water tank and just bundle it up underneath (because they wouldn't install the 4th tank) but have never got around to putting it in. Why did you just put the valve on the shower, do your sinks have "S" bends? mine dont, not that means anything as I notice that they mounted you rear tank close to the axles but they mounted mine 3/4 of the way back, funny seeing as its the same van.

The sink and basin do not have S bends as such but the have the clear tube that loops down a bit before connecting to the pvc under the van. those clear tubes are always full of water so they are acting as S bends.
The main reason for the valve on only the shower drain is that it is at floor level and the sink and basin drain hole are about a meter from van floor height so way less chance of getting water to back flow to that height.

Well that is how I see it, I have spent a lot of time googling trying to work out the correct way and the way I am doing seems to be the most common. No one seems to no for sure though.

Cheers

cool as soon as you give your set up the go ahead I will copy :) Is $235 a good price for the tank (110l) and mounts?

Running the tank north / south is my only option as well, but I'm reluctant to reduce the ground clearance but 170mm - if only I could find a tank that would fit between the chassis cross members.
Whilst th tank is still in deliberation, I plan to convert the plumbing to 40mm and also fit a non-return valve, enabling me to do away with the Jayco manifold and just run 1 hose directly to the site drain.
Watching your progress with interest.
How good or bad did your shower drain before starting this modifications?

You would not reduce the ground clearance by 170mm, I think the grey water tank will only hang down about 20 to 30mm lower than the factory Jayco tank. The Jayco tank is about 230 mm thick at its lowest and sits in between the chassis cross members, The grey water tank is only 170mm thick and sits on the cross members that are about 80mm thick, so in total 250mm.
As for the shower draining I have only ever had one quick shower and it seemed to drain fine.

Although still not sure about a tank or not, decided to buy a 40mm Hepvo valve for the the renewal of the shower waste. I had a few 40mm pipes and fittings in the shed so crawled under the camper this afternoon in great enthusiasm only to discover that my fittings are all pressure pipe and not waste pipe sizes. (Why does plumbing need to confuse with different fittings both claiming to be 40mm but being completely different?). Did you change everything to waste pipe work sizes, or use some type of adaptor to enable pressure pipe to be used? Can see a few trips to buy and rebuy fittings before this is over!

It is not easy, over the last 3 days I have been to every plumbing store, every pool shop and to bunnings about 7 times just to get the fitting i needed to to this job.
The plumbing on the jayco is 25mm pressure pipe so i had to buy a 40 to 32mm threaded adaptor for hepvo valve inlet and then a 32mm socket adaptor and the a 32mm to 25mm bush, so that is 3 fittings just to connect the 25mm factory pipe to the hepvo valve. The outlet i just used 40mm waste pipe.
Will let you know some part numbers in the morning to try and make it easier for you
Cheers

So tonight I made and connected the outlet fittings from the grey water tank, I used a barrel union so i can disconnect it from the tank if there is ever a problem and I also decided to use black 40mm pressure pipe so the plumbing is no seen as much.
20160122_200436.jpg
20160122_200448.jpg

I had a stone guard folded up also and I also fitted that
20160122_182137.jpg

Tank all mounted with stone guard fitted.
It doesn't sit much lower than the factory water tank
20160122_233214.jpg
20160122_233139.jpg

I then turned the tap on and let some water pump down the kitchen sink and in to the grey water tank.
No leaks and the gauge on the drifter control panel even worked.
20160122_195149.jpg

I still have to make up some brackets to secure the waste outlet pipe tomorrow

Cheers

The part numbers for the fittings to connect 25mm pressure pipe to the Hepvo valve are as follows( all from Bunnings)
9314632001108 dwv pvc art plastics 32x40 adaptor PWADP3240Q $2.44
9319841039799 press pvc valve socket 32mm x 1.1/4in P V VS32M
9319841035395 press pvc bush reducing 32mm x 25mm PVB3225 (also used one of these bushes at the tee to convert 25mm to 40mm waste for sink pipe, although not a tight fit it stilled glued up OK)
Here are some pictures

Thanks Base23 for th parts - 2 seperate purchases already today from Bunnies and I now have at least 10 different plumbing parts on the floor of the shed! I did also discover that 40mm waste slides nicely inside 40mm pressure without any other connectors - might use this discovery with large quantities of pipe glue.
Next work day off is Tuesday so hopefully will have something to report then.
Cheers for the info.

Today I finished making and installng the mounting brackets for the drain pipe.
I installed one at the first bend from the tank with a saddle and some threaded rod attached to the chassis cross rails
20160123_125144.jpg

I then made a bracket to secure the outlet of the pipe from the main chassis rail almost where the factory pipes used to be.
On this bracket I also included a side plate as a stone shield to protect the pipe and gate valve.

Bracket welded up and painted

20160123_161633.jpg

I think I may remove the bracket and have it galvanized so it matches the chassis a bit better.

Overall I am quite happy how the tank and pipe work turned out, looks quite neat and still sits higher than the alko drop down legs, so i have not lost any clearance.
20160123_161555.jpg

Now connect a flush hose to clean out tank and should all be complete
Cheers

Installed grey water flush hose and fittings.
I used 12mm plastic tube and fittings (john guest) I think they are called.
I ran the plastic tube from the tank to the spare hose connection in the extra (3rd tank fill port compartment.)

So that is my grey water tank install. I think I have done it correctly but if anyone has any comments about my install or feels that I should do anything different please let me know.
Cheers.
