I don't think it would be a severe jolt just a slow tearing, if you caught it early enough you could probably weld it up properly, heck there's absolutely no penetration from the first one, the ends are still clear cut.

Looks like there wasn't enough prep done at the join, but with our seeing it in the flesh I'm simply speculating here! But agree there doesn't look to be any pen in the join.
