It's been a hectic 3 weeks nearly all spent with the van. First week was a Brunswick Heads holiday with Mrs CR and daughter and two grandsons. We had our van and they had a tent, a 3 metre gazebo and awnings which was adequate while the weather was good, (the first 3 days).

I tried fishing off the rocks near the camp and as usual, did no good. Started to rock hop back and, wearing my u-beut Japanese safety boots, I slipped, jammed a foot between some rocks and fell backwards. I felt the leg was ready to snap but it didn't but I tore a toenail almost off and gashed the side of my foot. I was stuck hanging upside down until another guy came to my rescue and lifted me up. Limped back to Mrs CR :argue:who cleaned my wounds while I wiped the egg off my face. The lady in the next van was a nurse so she sorted me out and dressed my foot.:crutch:

The 4th day the wind got up so the tarps came down and the 5th day the storm hit, wind and rain bucketing down. Kids screaming, adults trying to hold the tent and mop up water that was flooding through. Put the kids in the van with their mother and Mrs CR and I tended to the tent etc. After that the slightest noise from wind or similar would set the kids off again. Pack up on day 7 was not fun with everything still wet. Most of the tent and sundry equipment was carried in the truck and had to be delivered to daughter.

Home one day and then had to set off for Sydney to assist my 80 year old sister rearrange her furniture. The highlight of the trip down was to spend a night with @Billrw136 and his lovely wife. Booked into Lane Cove Tourist Park for 7 nights. Was not put on the grassy sites that another member mentioned but it was not bad, not far from ammenities. Their wi-fi was not real good as you had to sit within about 5 metres of the office to get reception so it did not get used much.

Shifting bookcases and chest of drawers and more books than the local library, had us busy for the week while my sister sat and watched, issuing the occaisional instruction. Tempers were tested over the time and some were found wanting so it was good to get on the road home again. Sydney traffic is not enjoyable :barbershop_quartet_member:
so I was glad to leave it even though it did rain for the two days driving home.:rain:

Arrived home, emptied the van and put it in its hidey hole then put the cricket on and put my feet up. :couch2:

Great story. (glad it was yours, and not mine). The first 3 pics are deceptively pleasant .... and not indicative of the carnage and frustration that was to follow.

Its easy to be a little envious of the simple tent camper when your looking at it through the pleasant weather goggles. When we've been away and the weathers beautiful, we used to look on romantically and longingly at the tent campers and the pleasant, happy and simple outdoor tent holidays they are enjoying ..... then when the rain and wind hits we sit in the warm dry stable van (with Foxtel) and watch all that artificial romance get washed down the drain with half their camping gear.

Glad no permanent damage and it was only your pride that took a hit. Did you think youd hit you head when you got home and found @boots33 had move all your outdoor furniture about with his drone.

As I was reading about your rock escapade I had a horrible shudder run through me, Paul we usually don't bounce or bend that well at our time, you should've bought a lotto ticket..........................surely a trip to remember with much laughter in about 10 yrs time, glad you came out okay, I can tell you it's still bloody wet down south and I've had a gutfull of it............9 or 10 weeks on the road and the Tardis is getting smaller.

I doubt that mate, I would have stuffed your job the first hour. :p But it would have been nice to pick up a week's salary. :behindsofa:

Apologies for not catching up but flat out with my sister for the week and knackered at the end of each day.:sleeping:
