The new expanda we have been waiting on was due to get into Albury yesterday - but is not there yet. It has however left Melbourne and is on a truck somewhere in between - supposedly to get to Albury Monday/Tuesday (depends as is Vic longweekend this weekend). We have penciled in next Friday morning for the handover - so is starting to get a bit exciting.

We have ordered 17.56-2 outback with the following options

•Roof Mounted Air Conditioning
•Carefree roll out awning
•150 litre fridge
•2 X inner spring matresses (will need to check the order and talk to them about possible refund if these are now standard)
12Vcooling fan for fridge
•CD radio stereo with ipod aux
•external speakers
•external fold out table
•extra 3 internal 12 volt points and one extra externally
•external TV point
•wind up TV antenna and points
•external shower
•extra annex light over external shower area
•2 external gas bayonets - one each end of body of van on awning side
•RV control panel
•privacy screens to bed ends
•simplicity independant suspension
•extended A frame
•solar prewiring
•2 X 100 Amp batteries

We also took out the microwave and have the factory putting in a cupboard instead

Things we are to organise when we get the van:
•anderson plug
•2 X 120watt solar panels for roof plus regulator or DC to DC charger - etc - perhaps in a couple of months

Hope everything runs smoothly:high5:

YOur list looks almost like our set up. You will be very happy with what you get.

All the best for Friday.

It takes a long time to get your van from jayco to Albury, ours was delivered the night it rolled off the line.

Handover was this morning. It was a great experience in the new Jayco set up at Albury- Wodonga Jayco. Thankfully it was all done undercover in their new handover showroom as it was pouring with rain outside. Both the salesman and handover guy took their time and we were thorough with our questions- just alot to remember and an awful lot of keys! Seeing it for the first time- it looks very impressive and sits up high I think because of the simplicity suspension. I was nervous about the colour scheme - but I am very happy with our choice- it looks fresh- it is the greenish cirular colour. The ladder for the bunk is at the opposite end closer to the kids double bed - which I think is a better spot. Had to drive home (only 5kms ) in the driving rain and car still attatched to the van outside as it is still raining - so no photos of it today!:frown: Also they took $412 off the final payment as that was the price they had quoted for the 2 inner spring mattresses which are now standard:clap2:. Everything appeared to be there that we have asked for - they said the 12volt cooling fan for fridge is there but not sure where it is? -must be on outside of fridge behind one of the vents - does anyone know where theres is if they have it optioned? The only thing that is different from what we asked is that the table tops are the same material as the cupboards where we wanted them to be the same laminate as the bench tops (does anyone have them the same as the bench tops - or do they just do them all the same as the cupboards) and one of our 12 volt points is not where we wanted it but rather at floor level near the battery switch - we wanted it up near the CD player so we could plug in the ipod and charge up there.

Looked at the radar - heavy rain for the rest of the arvo - so cant even get out there and put things in ! - The kids will be excited when they get home in an hour!

Oh - also they gave us a 6 pack of crown lager a couple of stubby holders and a box of cadbury favourite chocolates

We just picked up ours last Thursday and the table tops are the same laminate as the bench tops, as we requested.

Might speak to our sales person tommorrow about why we could not have got the laminated tops on the the tables as we requested - I had asked the handover person - but he said that they came as per the cupboards - thought the laminated table tops would be more hard wearing with kids and colouring in /school work - given the amount we spent and if others have got them - I'm sure its not too much to change them

The cooling fan is a tricky one to find, it is half way up the wall behind the fridge, if you take off the bottom vent and look up you will see it.

Our table is the same as benchtops as requested, it's a bummer that yours didn't turn up that way.

Regarding the iPod, when it is plugged into the usb port to play, it will charge from there. No need for the 12v socket.

All we got were hats as our little thankyou gift, Would have loved the beer.

Yes will have trouble keeping from getting in to it (the beer) - trying to save it for the first trip at easter.

Does the fan look like a fan or just a boxy type thing

Bit new to the ipod thing - my daughter got one for Christmas - makes sense that it will charge this way

The fan is just like a computer fan, sort of a squarish shape, but you will see that it is a fan when you see it. Our iPod charges from the cable that came with it. It just plugs into the USB port on the CD player. It should be the same for yours.

Have fun exploring.

Congrats on the new arrival, the 12v fridge fan will be located behind the fridge vent usually near the coil it works off a thermosat so no switch, might pay to check it with a multimeter though, the one in our Swan never worked properly at first as it was wired wrong
the one we had fitted to our Eagle (first camper) had a manual switch much better idea

Come to think of it I'm not sure if the one in the Expanda works either, never checked it you can't hear or see it.

We asked for the bench tops to be the same as the laminate and the factory did it. Only thing was they left it with the sides hanging down past the bottom of the table so that if we tried to use the small dinette as a bunk, it would have been sitting on the side skirt and not the table. Bayswater Jayco fitted some blocks so all well. Can get some pics if anyone wants them?

The one on the left is normal and on the right is ours matched to the laminate.

They said the cooling fan only kicks in when the fridge reaches a certain temperature - although not sure what temp this is.

Got the van popped up today - with the rain and then running around with kids activities all day saturday and one of our kids having a 5th birthday on Sunday we have hardly looked at it. I did buy some foam matress toppers from target that are currently half price this week and a bath mat and shower curtain - I have to get out and take some photos and post them.

Our sales man at Jayco is going to enquire about change of tables to the laminate tops but has said that the factory does not guarantee laminate tops - will only do if they have bits of laminate left over etc - they are not that common. He said it might cost us!!!!!!!!!!!!! to have them changed

If you ordered laminate same as bench tops you should have got them ......... we had the option of either and chose cupboard covering ..... Though with hindsight laminate would be more hard wearing ........ it's obviously cheaper for Jayco to use cupboard finish than laminate ........ much cheaper finish ....... Don't let them talk you into paying more money ....... get them to provide what you ask for ....

Good luck

We had our requirement put on the sale contract and the order form. If it's on yours then thats what it should have been. If not....................................?

Bill - So did your sales person give you the option and say that they would definately provide either? Our sales person has said that they would put down the laminate table tops as a request but it may or may not happen - which in our case it did not - even though it was written on our sign off sheet. It seems strange that so many others have had their requests granted and we did not? Were others out there given a definate option? Have not yet heard back of our salesman.

Oh - they also forgot the 2 throw cushions - so they also have sent off to melbourne to ensure they are comming up on hopefully the next load - Thanks Molong Mick - your pictures reminded me of them and to query why they had not arrived.
