Congratulations! We had an Eagle for several years and loved it - only recently upgraded to an Expanda so the kids could have the bunk.

Re the mattress topper, I bought a Kogan one for the Expanda and it's the best nights sleep ever! A little heavy, but you shouldn't need to remove.

A tip if you're planning on camping anywhere that might be cool enough to cause overnight condensation is to have a waterproof mattress cover stored somewhere if you need to pack up wet. Also, if you want more storage room, these guys have a great solution http://skytracks.com.au/ for lighter stuff. The bag flies are quite handy for preventing most dripping in cold weather though, and we had a pack away solution of taking the bag fly off completely and the kids and I would roll it up together on the ground sheet rather than trying to roll it back into the bag in situ.

Everyone on here will no doubt be very helpful at loads of other suggestions.

the odd occasions we were camping with the Flamingo and it was raining when packing up

we (I) left the awnings up (both sides and the bed flys) while we packed away the interior then the beds,
wind it down about 1/2 way, then fold the bed fly's up, and the kitchen awning
wind it down another 1/4 height, then fold up the main awning
then wind the rest down

found it easier and kept the bed ends dry-ish

Got it a few weeks ago and we love it! We've made some shelves for the useless wardrobe thing, and a bed insert for the club lounge ($7 sheet of craft wood from Masters...didn't even have to make a cushion as the cushions from the dinette fit into the gap!). Also bought an offside awning to keep the fridge and offside of the van cool. Jayco forgot to install our fridge fan so we will see how we go without it...they've said they will refund what we paid for the fan if we feel we don't need it.

Absolutely love the Fiamma awning and are so glad we didn't get the bag one.

We need to get something to put on top of our mattress as it's about as comfortable as a pile of rocks. Clark Rubber wanted $130 for one of those egg carton topper things....anyone else got a cheaper option?

Two weeks and counting until we take it on its maiden voyage.

Congrats on the acquisition .
in relation to your mattress - have you tried turning it over.
our next door neighbours matresses were installed upside down for protection during transport .
they also went out and brought pillow toppers etc before they worked it out...

cheers and happy travels.
we get our March 1st ..
