Ok I won't keep you all in suspense any longer.
We bought a Colorado. :)
After lots of :fencing: we finally came to an agreement.
Delivery in a couple of weeks hopefully.
A big thanks to Warren for his advise. Hope to return the favour one day.

Enjoy the new purchase, now you can rest assured you got a good deal and keep it as a positive buying experience. You have bought a good truck and added quality items to it well done.

Don't get too emotional when you hand over the keys of your trade will you!!!

Just some other advice, make sure you give them the wiring diagram for your hot wire on the 12 pin.

Also if you want you can ask for the sports bar that's being removed and sell it yourself on eBay or gumtree, more money for some mods etc.

giving honest advice and help, on something that is near on the 2nd / 3rd most expensive thing anyone will buy is so far out its fan-freaking-tastic

(I am certainly going to be annoying you one day when I need to up grade my beastie..........
although, dont hold your breath just yet @warren cook - its a GU TD42 Wagon...................... so it may be awhile before she needs to be replaced)

Glad I could help someone to be honest, I just went through the experience of buying my van and the biggest question that hung over me was "am I getting a good deal or being ripped off", not having anyone to turn to for advice was what made me realise what my customers must be going through every time they buy a car, so if thats what I can help people with it makes the whole buying experience better, not to mention giving out some negotiating tips along the way.

I'm just packing the van as im typing, going to take the kids away to Umina for a few days and enjoy a few coldies along the way.

Hi all.
Just wondering what people are using to tow there 22.68-1 starcrafts with and whether or not you use a WDH.

My cruizer died the other day and we need a new tug. Was looking at the ranger but have decided against them due to them having too many issues. I dint want any arguements just would like to know what people are using to tow with.

We don't have a 22 but the 20.64ob is about the same weight. We've towed with a Ranger plus wdh for the last 2 years with no issues.

Just an update.
We should be getting our new Colorado near the end of next week.
Then off we go for a couple of weeks with the van.
I will see how it tows the van before I lash out and buy a WDH.
Just not sure which one to buy if I had to.
The Anderson one looks interesting but the normal one from Hayman Reese might be a better option.

I've mentioned it on my New Horse thread but my Colorado towing Big Mal didn't need a WDH but with upgraded suspension I needed it as the front end got twitchy at speed on the freeways, the wind was lifting the front end...........new suspension had given me big lift so was running out of travel.........FWH make a great difference to economy and steering as well.

That is useful info as later on down the track I was going to do a 2" lift on the Colorado.

I ended up with a 2nd hand HR with my lift I just needed the standard HR hitch no drop down but that depends on your van hitch height but something to look at if you later upgrade springs...........my rear springs eventually sagged which is the norm so I went for a set of BlueMax springs, actully bought them when down in Melb, made everything a lot better, have to drag Mrs D into the truck sometimes as she can't climb up,lol...
Took me awhile to figure out why it got skittish on the really good roads but handled great on the old rural roads and tracks, no swaying, no pitching but then it clicked, no dramas now with the WDH and it's no great drama to set up.
The Colorado like most of them now have a 150,000km auto service or 70,000km if towing, I chose to keep to my old 35,000km interval, worked for my old Jeeps and they had 100,000km intervals and did nearly 300,000kms with no problems..........
I think you will be happy with your Lion badged tug. I hope the new model still has the cup holder next to the wheel, brilliant spot.

I will be picking up the new beast tomorrow after work. It is having the clearview mirrors fitted tomorrow. We will be then collecting the van on the weekend with it. Hope to get some photo and post them over the weekend. The canopy will not be fitted as it has not arrived. I ordered an ARB ascent canopy which I hope will arrive in a couple of weeks

So now to some questions
So after I hooked up the van the rear end dropped a little which is to be expected.
The gap between the wheel and the arch decreased by 3.5cm
The tow ball dropped about 9 cm
I would have thought that they would have been very similar but after double and triple checking that was the difference.
The Colorado handle the van better than the cruiser did which surprised me and it pulls like a train.
One very happy customer. I was initially a bit worried about the Colorado as a tow vehicle but I am very impressed.
I have only done 90 km so far and I have towed with it for 25km. I know you should wait till 1000km before towing but I couldn't help my self and brought the van home.
So finally to my question
Should I buy a WDH or not.????????????
What are others doing in regards to using a WDH when towing 3t with a dual cab??????
