We were there in January. It was very hot. The park is as good as any we have stayed at anywhere. The pool area was great as was the camp kitchen. Only stayed over night so we asked the owner what we should see. She wa very helpful. We went to the Chambers of the Black Hand. If you only see one thing in LR, then this is a must. One of the most interesting places we have visited.

Cheers

Recently stayed a few nights at the Opal caravan park. Have to agree with previous posts - a very good caravan park. It had rained a couple of days before we got there so there was plenty of sticky red mud around but the sites themselves were good. Have to say the rain didn't soften the ground any when trying to hammer in a couple of pegs. Park was very busy when we checked in - caravans lined up out on the road waiting to check in. The staff said it was the start of their busy season - for the next eight months. Definitely agree with @Red1 - the Chambers of the Black Hand are really worth a visit. I'd also recommend the self guided tours around the area - four separate tours where you follow painted car doors. Maps are available from the very helpful information centre.

Yep certainly is a great park, summer months normally their quiet time just to damn hot, we go there around September/October and find it quite pleasant temp and weather wise. You'll find the sites very rarely get sloppy due to them being slightly raised above the access roads, they carted in 13,500 ton of fill and compacted it to archive that and get their drainage right, hence why its so damn hard to get a peg in.
They use to lend you a big hammer drill with a masonry bit in it just the right size for most pegs, drill in one hand peg in the other, drill hole, ram peg in, then belt it in the rest of the way with your hammer, but geez they could be a bugger to get out again.

Still one of my top parks to visit, then I wander up to Nindigully Pub to camp a few days, not sure about summer months though but it would be nice and quiet..............I just want to get there when they put a new load of dirt there to Noodle in.

You won't be able to place your bottom in the artesian pool at that time of year, be too hot more than likely.

We stayed late September last year. Agree with all it is a great park with clean and modern amenities and also a great shuttle bus to the club and home again.
