Thanks, my name is Jim. I'm new to forums etc. On winding down my Jayco Swift got it down to about 45cm from completion, then would not lower further. would wind it up wind it down, nothing! . Finally had to take off the ply wood pannel from inside camper in line with the cranking hole. With winch and cables exposed I found the cable caught on a cuphead bolthead !! Yes so small on the inside of the the winder spool. I wound up the crank handle and and applied small pressure to cable. With multi grips I pulled the cable off the cup head and with wife winding the camper up again I re positioned the cable on the spool to run straight and not bunch up on the side of spool. I applied grease to the cup head and gear teeth So far as good it works.. I hope this helps if anyone else can't lower their camper fully

Good on you for sorting it out!

When you can, I'd suggest checking that all the bolts and cables are securely fitted and not likely to shake loose.

It's easier to do it when at home and you have the right tools available.

This happened to us once and it was a right royal pain trying to fix it late at night, in the rain.

I think the idea is to keep a bit of pressure on the winder at all times to keep the cable tracking properly. Thanks for welcome
