Exterior How do you bleed the hot water system

I finally got around to replacing the anode. Watched a YouTube video, armed myself with a socket and the rest is history.

I gave the tank a good flush with my patented tool (which consists on one of these)

with a 200mm bit of clear hose n the end - shove it in the hole with the anode removed, turn tap on and flush until all the white chunks stop coming out.

Now I need to fill the hot water system again. Do I just connect it to mains and open the relief valve, turn a hot tap on or is there some other better way?

Extra points if someone can confirm I can relocated the drain hose through the bottom without an issue - the genius appetence put the hole right in front of the anode so I need to remove it when I want to pull the anode out. I assume I can just drill a new hole, relocate the JG tube and silicone the other over (top and bottom)???

To refill just plug in the mains and run a hot tap till it stops spluttering then it's all full......................I usually just plug into mains and turn on or stick end of hose n hole to flush out........................................seems to be standard fit out to place the drain in front of the anode, a longer bit of pipe with a few guest fittings to move it or I have seen a bit of copper pipe used with a nice curve, Big Mal's just runs to the edge of door and drains, doesn't go thru body or get in the way.........I owuldn't drill another potential leak point though, might try a longer bit of pipe heated to give it a curve might work.

Fill it via opening a hot tap.

I sealed the join btw the Suburban HWS itself and the external facia so I could blast water all over the place without any fear of it seeping into the van. I also release all the plumbing pressure by cracking both the cold and hot taps when I put van to bed.

During an inspection of the anode I almost experienced a soprano conversion; someone must have used the water pump and charged the plumbing. I made the mistake of not checking and unscrewed the anode to inspect it .... it shot out like a cruise missile, narrowly missing the crown jewels and hit the factory wall.

I thought I had released all the pressure before unscrewing the anode (and I was wrong). Ended up wearing it as the chalky water (or water with white chunks) flew all over me. Lesson learnt for next time.

I have heard someone drained the pressure from the tap and still got covered with yucky water, someone opened the cold tap instead of hot................

Yep laughter all round as I spat out white bits and looked like I had a bit of an accident............. just another one to chalk up......

I write the date on the inside of the lid so I know when I last serviced the thing.........oh and don't wrap the whole thread in plumbers tape either as it needs some conductivity.
