I finally got around to replacing the anode. Watched a YouTube video, armed myself with a socket and the rest is history.
I gave the tank a good flush with my patented tool (which consists on one of these)
with a 200mm bit of clear hose n the end - shove it in the hole with the anode removed, turn tap on and flush until all the white chunks stop coming out.
Now I need to fill the hot water system again. Do I just connect it to mains and open the relief valve, turn a hot tap on or is there some other better way?
Extra points if someone can confirm I can relocated the drain hose through the bottom without an issue - the genius appetence put the hole right in front of the anode so I need to remove it when I want to pull the anode out. I assume I can just drill a new hole, relocate the JG tube and silicone the other over (top and bottom)???
