anyone else had the joy of a seized brake.

Drove from Mandurah to ledge point and it stinks like crap.

Good job I’m mechanical minded, any tips guys.

Thanks

It wouldn't be siezed or it would have probably caught alight or at least had the grease running out of the hub, more like just dragging a shoe, try giving the hand brake wire a few good jerks and that should set things right, sometimes the lever doesn't release fully especially if the handbrake has been on for months on end or if very dirty the crap can cake up and a chunk can just pack things out.
Jack up wheel and give it a spin first, if it has a scraping sound them its a brake shoe but if it's just hard to turn but reasonably silent then the bearings too tight more than likely.
Either way check it all out before going again as they can turn nasty quickly.

If just scraping and the cable rattle doesn't clear it then grab a screwdriver and adjust it thru the plug hole on bottom of the backing plate, you will have to figure out which way as I can never remember..................... The bearing, just knock the cap off, remove split pin and loosen the nut to the next pin hole, spin wheel to check how free it is and give wheel a shake at 1200/0600, if it knocks then its too loose.

Thanks for the heads up Drover,
I’ll give it a crack.

I should have added to spin the wheel while you fiddle with the adjuster, adjust to tight as a fishes what's it, then back off till free or just the gentle odd scrape.....oh and if you do one then you must do them all but that could wait till you get home.......................I check bearings and adjust brakes after every trip, it's the wise thing to do as there's nothing flamin worse than finding something wrong a few days before departure or as you leave I can tell you....I chock wheels use a stand on the draw bar and leave the handbrake off when parked up so the chance of shoe stick is less but then you get drum rust so your caught either way........It's handy to know how to adjust your brakes, bearings as much as changing a wheel, in fact it's a must I reckon, once a year service at dealer , nah !!!!!!......
