Ended up ordering one from heatso.com came in at just under $1000 incl postage so will avoid gst.

Thinking of two possible locations but will take some photos after I get it and put it in.

Yeah that's a good question. I'm going to wait until it arrives and decide where I put it and then that will decide where the tank will go. Thought about just putting a small 5 ltr tanks inside near the unit itself but that would not be ideal to fill up, and is a bit of a lazy option but is out of sight and easy. Will probably find a small tank and get a mount to sit it on either the rear bar or on draw bar up front.

The tanks online are cheaper then over here if I want one of the slimline ones but that would of out me over the $1000 so I might order one seperatly.

I'm thinking I have two options to mount the unit. One option would be under the dinette lounge with the vent angled back out towards kitchen area. Pros for this location is easy to run power back to my fused bank in opposite lounge and controller would be easy to run up to edge of front bed so it can be operated from bed. Cons are not ideal airflow through van from here unless I run the duct back into front tunnel across and out directly pointing down towards the other end. This is probably the way I'll go. Fuel tank would probably sit on front draw bar from this location.

Second option is under bunk at rear, vent pointing straight up the van towards front bed. Will lose storage if put on off side but might be an option on other side as there is no hatch to access this so we don't use it. Would have to run wires back and not sure how easy it is to get them around back of cupboard and fridge or run them under van in conduit. This location I would run the fuel tank off the rear bar. A bonus would be if there is a ticking noise from fuel pump it would be furthest away from our bed.

These ideas and more are buzzing around in my head while I wait for it to arrive at the door step and then bring on the winter trips ! :encouragement:

Yeah I had the same thoughts as you but for us with the heater at the rear on the near side space under the rear bunk the noise might annoy the kids. Might have to sacrifice a draw under the dinette.

Sorry another thing, I looked at the spec sheet and it said the heater weighed 2.7kg but I wonder if that is the heater itself or the whole kit. If you don't mind and if you remember can you please weigh the whole kit before you install it. Thanks.

@MDS69 I will weigh the whole kit when I have it.

Ordered it Friday night and we went away in the van Monday for just two nights, arrived home today with two cards in the letter box both from missing the heater. So it arrived Tuesday 10am from a Friday night order, all the way from England. Thats pretty fast, now have to wait until tomorrow for the third re delivery as we missed the second one today. Only problem is we dont have the van now as its at Holidays Annexes getting a bed fly made up, so ill have a heater but no van to put it in!

I put the tank on the back draw bar of our Coromal. Also - originally I had an audible tick from the pump,. but then I positioned it away from the chassis and "no tick" inside the van
. IMG_2834.JPG 5ltr tank is more than enough - I'd even suggest a smaller one if available.

Hey @Glen Bundesen what did you do for the fuel pickup out of the tank?

@MDS69 the heater unit weighed 2.7kg and the whole kit still in box was 7.7kg. If you were to take the box and other packaging out it would probably be around 6kg all up. Hope that helps!

This tank has the outlet so the tank can it be mounted horizontal or vertical. By mounting the tank upright means the fuel line can basically empty the whole tank. I've taken a pic to show the outlet.

I never really looked at the gas option and can install the diesel version myself. Gas is probably a good option too but at under $1000 for a quality diesel version it's hard to go past the d2.

Fitted it up today, took 5-6 hours all up! I'm now part of the diesel heater club. Tested and so warm and quite... Bring on winter. :cheer2:

I'll post more pics in a build thread I'll start soon on our little 14.

Nice job. I can't tell from the pics but where is your controller mounted and are both plates shown in your pic for the heater. Also where is your fuel tank going. Thanks.

Controller is mounted on back of lounge so it faces in towards the main bed. This way we can adjust temp from bed if needed. The light switch it's next too is the one in the front bed area.
What did you mean when you said ''both plates'' ?.

Fuel tank is mounted on the rear bar. After much indecision I went with a 20lt Jerry can, will fill less than half most the time but will fill to top if we think we might need it for a extra backup for a long run when, if in an emergency I can top the car up if needed. Just bought an arc holder from supercheap and a couple of u bolts and done.

I didn't realise that was a light switch as mine look nothing like that. Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to your build thread.
